An anonymous map, marked ‘House in Barn’, spelled the end of hopes for one man trying to avoid planning permission.

The 2 story house hidden inside an old barn has now been demolished. It was thought the owner was hoping to avoid planning permission by remaining in the house undiscovered for the 4 years required for planning exemption. Unfortunately, even if he hadn’t been discovered within the time this would not have worked as the 4 years does not start until any shielding has been removed.

I was very pleased to see that planning permission had been upheld. While I think we have too many rules and regulations to follow, I also feel that we do need to follow the rules, it would be even worse if everyone just did whatever they wanted.
